2005 Acura TL: Still Worth It in 2020, 15 YEARS LATER?

Review on the 2005 Acura TL and is this car actually worth it moving forward into 2020? I've owned the 2010 Acura TSX and this is my first time driving the Acura TL, I have not driven the 2009-2014 Acura TL either. I can say these Acuras age extremely well and they have a phenomenal driving characteristic that many new cars simply can't match. I particularly liked the 3.5l V6 engine which not only felt potent, but had nice linear power delivery due to the fact that it was naturally aspirated. The older Acura cars like this 2005 Acura TL always had great driving dynamics which were aided by the double wishbone front suspension set up, lacking in some new models today. Overall, the 2005 Acura TL and this whole 3rd generation is still worth taking a look at, especially since it is still one of the best looking four door sedans out.

Before continuing, huge shout out to Cary Imports for allowing me to do this review for you. Info below:

This is why I love this channel. You remind me of how Redline Reviews used to be by reviewing new cars, but also older cars, which most of us guys love. Thanks so much bro. We need more opinions of older cars.

@Exhaust Sports Auto, obviously you never heard of the Canadian only Acura CSX which Honda of Japan loved the design so much that the chassis became the now timeless FD2 Civic Type-R. What's even crazier is you get a manual transmission, leather interior, with navigation. And yeah, people are saying it's just an 8th gen civic all dressed up, but when you have time take a look at the 2010 Acura CSX. It took me 6 months of paperwork to import it and it's a freakin' eye turner lemmie tell ya.

I’ve got a 2004 TL bought new. I didn’t think it would be the last car I ever bought, but now, 17 years later (!) who knows? It’s faster and better handling than most cars out there. It will automatically adjust to any octane, but likes premium best. 20 mpg city, 30 on long trips (and I’m averaging 70 mph). I’d like to get a new car with USB and a backup camera, but what can I do? This Acura won’t die. Perfect? No. Replaced A/C compressor, new timing belt at 14 years. The side mirror adjustment is wonky. The audio amplifier is dying and I’m going to DIY replace it with an eBay used version for $116. The low profile tires don’t last more than about 22K miles but they make the handling so tight. I’m in my 70’s now and it they may take away my DL before my TL. : )

Everytime I see a TL video I laugh, and say grab an RL. It’s faster, AWD, and had better features right out the dealership. Only thing it was lacking was as nice of a body style as the TL, personally, they should’ve switched the body styles of the two acuras, because looks aside, the RL drives better, and performs better, especially in heavy rain and snow. My power steering pump had blown out down a hill leading to a tight left turn in heavy rain, im muscling my car as it hits a puddle big enough to make a wave higher than my car, and my car didn’t even hydroplane with the whole car locked up

Have had an 08 TL-S for five years now, still love it just as much as when I first bought it. Never get tired of looking at it, it's got plenty of power and torque, and it's comfortable. This thing may be a good sized four door, but when you drive it, it feels smaller than it actually is. And I also get the occasional "nice car" comment even now. It's a timeless design that you don't get with the newer, more agressive-looking cars

I have a 2010 TL base with auto transmission, my son has 08 TL type S manual 140,000 miles I wouldn’t even try to race him. The best thing about Acura/Honda is it’s engine as long as it’s maintained properly. I read somewhere it is the metallurgy procedure that’s why they last for a long time. No wonder they can manufacture aircraft engines and the most sought after small engine from air compressor to pressure washers to generator you name it.

Found a 2006 with a 6-speed manual in July of 2019 with only 44,000 miles on it for less than $10000 out the door. No rust, couple minor nicks in the paint, great interior. @Wasted Potential I truly am happy to know that you have your car and it’s working great. I am Bawling over here On the fact that I spent over 7500 total on a car they gave me only 3000 miles of freedom. I don’t know what to do anymore because this car has broken me. God bless you and I pray that your car last you as long as you shall need it

Still running? Mines broke down after $2500 of maintenance and now the transmission blew out. Nicest looking but worst car i ever owned. Im selling it for 2k on Monday fully loaded with tech pack biggest mistake i ever spent money on

I just got a 06 TL, 150,000 miles on it for $5 grand and I was horrified with 14 miles of local mpg especially coming from 04 civic. Today, I was extremely surprised after dropping of my daughter at school, about 320 mile around trip. O~~h AM G~~~, I've got 33 miles per gallon, i was just speechless. Car was kept very clean both interior and exterior for it's age. Seriously, last week i did not recognized my car on target parking lot at first, i think it was designed sleek and well for 06 car, very smooth ride, I am very pleased, hopefully it'll last for a while, lol

It was a very fun car to drive but the small turning radius was what kept me away from it

Oh that's great wow happy to hear it. Yea I too was in an accident as year no one was hurt and actually we hit a TL and the TL was the vehicle that ran a red light and I hit them in my father's Tundra, that TL was totaled frame was all bent. We def value safety now in the cars we buy because of that incident. Again, glad you guys were safe
