Thanks for the technology review, One question: is it possible to make all these selections/setups with engine OFF?

    • Northside Lexus

      Northside Lexus

Hi Eli, Yes, many of the features can be explored and customized when the vehicle is in Accessory Mode. Just don't apply the brake and press the Start Engine button twice. If an item isn't available it will be grayed out or the system will tell you that you need to turn on the car. For example, you usually have to have the car all the way on (engine running) to pair a phone. Hope this helps. Thanks so much for tuning in with us!

do you have the dimensions (Height, Width, Length from 1st & 2nd row) in inches of the cargo space? How flat is the cargo space with the 2nd row down?

    • Northside Lexus

      Northside Lexus

Hi Brian, For a measurement in inches, I would check with your sales person so they can measure that for you. The dimensions I have access to are only what's on the Lexus website and they only give cubic feet of cargo volume. Here are the dimensions from the Lexus website: www.lexus.com/models/GX?link[model_overlay_infolayer][SHOW_PAGE]=true&link[model_infolayer][setActiveTab]=1 Cargo volume* (behind front/second-row/third-row seats) 64.7 / 46.7 / 11.6 cu ft They only give cubic feet of cargo volume. All the best.

Question, the 2021 Gx460 on the signal lights it comes with the option to push the signal lever half way and the signal lights just blinks three times? The premium package.

    • Northside Lexus

      Northside Lexus

Hi Eddie, The Owner's Manual is very confusing on this one. The GX still does not have a programmable customization for this feature. You Can hold the lever partway and it will flash until you let it go, but it does not have a set number of flashes, even with a Premium package. Check page 211 of the online Owner's Manual for details: drivers.lexus.com/t3Portal/document/om-s/OM60T19U/pdf/OM60T19U.pdf Thanks so much for tuning in.

Hi Romy, To remotely start the 2021 GX from the key fob. Make sure you are in visual range of the vehicle. Using the lock button, press it twice then press and hold on the third press. So: 1st Click, 2nd Click, 3rd Click & Hold Hope this helps.

Super helpful tutorials. There is one item that I need help with. The signal lights on my 2021 GX 460 doesn’t blink 3 times when touched like other Lexus, I have to fully engage the signal lights every time I want to change lanes. What is going on?

    • Northside Lexus

      Northside Lexus

Hi Doc Torres, Unfortunately the GX doesn't have the same "customizable lane change" feature that you are describing. I checked the online Owner's Manual for you and on page 211 (drivers.lexus.com/t3Portal/document/om-s/OM60T19U/pdf/OM60T19U.pdf) it just states "move the lever partway and then release it." When you do that does it just blink once? That is what I have experienced driving the GX. I wish I had a better answer for you.

Hi I just got my GX460 Luxury Since I can fold my mirrors. I know there is a way to do this. The guy showed me quickly but it was such a condensed walk through that I can’t figure it out. Can you please help with the function for them? Automatically and/or manually will help. Thank you for being so specific! I appreciate it!

    • Northside Lexus

      Northside Lexus

Hi @Geri C, Thanks for being here. If you have power folding mirrors on your GX you will see a mirror folding symbol on the toggle button above the mirror adjustment circular pad. If you don't see the power fold button, then you can manually fold them in just by pulling from the housing for the mirror. Check page 157-158 of the online Owner's Manual: drivers.lexus.com/t3Portal/document/om-s/OM60T19U/pdf/OM60T19U.pdf they show a picture of it. In our area it is rare to see the auto folding mirrors. Hope this helps. :)

Hello, I was wondering if the spare tire underneath the GX460 2021 has a chain that is supposed to be hanging down a few inches from the middle of the spare tire? Thanks!

    • Northside Lexus

      Northside Lexus

Hi Victoria, The GX spare tire is pulled up and held into place by a chain and a metal bracket. Check out page 543: drivers.lexus.com/t3Portal/document/om-s/OM60T19U/pdf/OM60T19U.pdf for a better description. I don't think the chain should hang down past the tire though? You may want to make sure the metal bracket is in the right spot. I hope this helps.

Hi Jewel, When you put in a route, look for the soft button the the screen that says "Three Routes" click to open, and then choose from the three route options. You also want to start a route and then make sure you have Freeways and Toll Road turned on in the Route Preferences. That can make a big difference.

@Ali Mahmood Ahhh, that is adjusting the suspension system. (The Adaptive Variable Suspension System.) It is not the same as the Drive Mode Selector like some of the other cars. That adjustment is only indicated by the position of the toggle switch. Hope this helps.

@Northside Lexus I have the luxury trim of 2017 GX460 and it has 3 driving modes. Normal, comfort and Sport mode. When I change the switch to set on comfort or Sport, I don't know where to confirm if it has appropriately shifted to the correct mode

    • Northside Lexus

      Northside Lexus

Hi Ali, The GX does not have a Drive Mode Selector like a lot of our other models. Are you asking about the Low 4WD information? I was not able to drive this vehicle to demo the off-roading capabilities, but as noted in the video, any button or toggle adjusted in the center console will display information on the MID and or illuminate on the dash. I hope this helps!

As an owner of a 2016 GX460 I'd like to thank Lexus for saving me the envy of newer model as the 2021 is exactly the same! For 2021 owners I'm sorry you guys paid over 60k to get the same features that my 2016 has and probably what the 2010 Lexus had. 2021 still has no sync button for the climate control like literally every other vehicle out there even Toyotas and Lexus! Still gotta dig through the menus. At least you get auto high beam! I wish I was exaggerating, look up a 2010 lexus GX460 video, it's the same. They've kept the interior the same for 11 years. Yes keep the hardware same for reliability but could have made some adjustment for suckers shelling out close to 70k for 11 year old tech.

    • Northside Lexus

      Northside Lexus

You are so right, Daniel. The GX has been long over due for an update in my opinion as well. Lexus is making some great technology changes for the 2022 model that should be in showrooms this Fall. It will not have the Gen 12 Lexus Interface system that is premiering on the 2022 NX, but it seems like it will be like the 2021 RX Gen 11 system. Major improvement, just long over due. Thanks for watching.

    • Northside Lexus

      Northside Lexus

Good morning, @Gunner Blinka . It is usually in the glove box, or in the back cargo area. There are some small cubby doors in the back sides and rear door, have you check there? Unless the previous owner discarded it. if they did, you can order one from a Lexus Parts Department to make sure it fits correctly. Hope you are able to find it. My fingers are crossed for you.

Hi Gunner, There should be a license plate support bracket that comes with your new GX. It is a rectangular black plastic piece with some holes that will line up with the "knock outs" in the grille for the screw attachment points. I'm sorry they don't seem to have a picture of it in the Owner's Manual. You may want to ask your Lexus Dealer to help with the installation, if you aren't comfortable attaching the plate bracket. I'm sure they would be happy to help. Congratulations on your new Lexus!

Will hard wiring in a dash cam void my warranty? Thanks Melissa

    • Northside Lexus

      Northside Lexus

Hi Jim, Yes, there is a risk of the warranty being voided. Make sure to check with your Service and Finance Department to see if there are any options they can recommend. I know at our store we don't install them since they are an aftermarket item, but I do see them on some people's cars. Not sure if they are not hardwired and the installer is just really good at hiding the wiring? I would see if that's an option. Best of luck on your search.

    • Northside Lexus

      Northside Lexus

Hi Rico! Awesome to have you here! The USB connection for audio is accessing your iPhone music library and it take a bit for the computer on the car to process the information. If you want to try to have the Source on Bluetooth Audio and have the audio on your phone open or running in the background, it may work better for you. Also, if you are an Apple Music Subscriber, I read that they have an on off control for "auto play" now. It is supposed to look like an infinity symbol. That will also be better experienced through the Bluetooth Audio source option. Hope this helps. Thanks for tuning in!

@Enrique Carrillo 2023 is supposed to be the full redesign, but I had heard some talk of a minor refresh with some technology updates for the 2022. I'll do some digging and see if I can learn anything new. They may be keeping a lid on it either way. Tech changes are long over due so people will be happy if they happen, but unhappy if they don't. But you're correct, no major changes until 2023. I'll let you know if I find out anything that can be shared!

That's wonderful! Yes, my plan is to continue making the short Tech Tip videos and the Full Tutorials for most models. As in person work has gotten busier I am not able to produce the content at the pace I was before, but I will keep working on it for everyone! I think there are a lot of changes planned for the 2022 GX so it should exciting! Thanks so much for tuning in!

Hi Jewel, On the GX, make sure to change the state you are searching in. Select Address > Change State or Province > Select the correct state for your search > then follow the prompts for the rest of your search. Once you have the state changed you can also use voice commands for searching in that state. For more information check out the NAV Owner's Manual starting on page 99: drivers.lexus.com/t3Portal/document/omnav-s/OM60T28U/pdf/OM60T28U.pdf Hope this helps :)

Congrats on your new GX, @Obed! The 2021 GX does have a PCS (Pre Collision System) on board. There are a lot of details and parameters to be aware of to understand how and when it operates. Maker sure to read that section of your Owner's Manual to learn more about it. It is am amazing system and is designed to mitigate an accident. It should not be used to avoid all collisions. There is not a system out there that can do that yet. Maybe one day :)

    • Northside Lexus

      Northside Lexus

@Carol Richter Sounds like a plan. I'm sorry you aren't comfortable with your dealership's reply. Sad to hear that. The GX camera set up is definitely different from the RX. I'm not sure if it is the positioning and shape of the door, but the GX camera is more hooded and shows more of the bumper and it is common to even see part of the license plate. Since it is a vehicle with major off-roading capabilities, the engineers have made sure you can be aware of the edge of the bumper for better visibility. Please send the photo when you have your vehicle back. I'm happy to look at it for you.

@Northside Lexus I will send a picture. The dealership said they would look at it but said that was usual. This dealership has no problem lying to me. My RX camera doesn’t do that. When I get it back I will send it to you.

Hi Carol, There is usually a black section in the lower portion of the backup camera. It is the bumper and is in view for distance reference. Or if you are close to your dealership, give them a call so someone in Service can take a look for you. moconnell@northsidelexus.com All the best :)

Hi Darcy, Yes, it does have an alarm system, as long as the vehicle is locked. If someone rocks the vehicle or tries to open a door without the key, the alarm will sound. You should see a small light by a pad lock icon on the dash. A Glass Breakage alarm is optional and is not always installed in all packages. So make sure to check the equipment list on your window sticker to see if you have the glass breakage option. All the best.

    • Northside Lexus

      Northside Lexus

Hi! I'm sorry I didn't have a GX with the front camera when I was filming. On the GX it is called the Multi-terrain Monitor in the Owners Manual. There is a section starting on page 296 in the digital version of the manual: drivers.lexus.com/t3Portal/document/om-s/OM60T19U/pdf/OM60T19U.pdf Start by pushing the "View" button on the left side of the dash. If you have the GX stopped, but shift into Drive and keep your foot on the brake, you'll also see an "Auto" soft button the bottom left corer of the main screen. If you click to turn "auto" on then the camera view will turn on as you slow down or come to a stop. You can select different views right on the screen and choose the view that works best for your driving situation. I hope this is a good start for you. All the best :)

    What does 3 zone mean?

    • Northside Lexus

      Northside Lexus

Hi Javier! Thanks for watching. 3 Zone means you have a 3rd controllable climate zone for the rear cabin. Zone 1: Driver's Area Zone 2: Front Passenger Area Zone 3: Rear Passenger Area If a passenger temperature is adjusted (from the front passenger or the back controls), then 3-Zone is activated and it will let all of the selectable temperatures operate separately. So you can have 3 temperatures chosen. When you turn 3-Zone off, by clicking on it, then all of the temperatures will sync up with the Driver's selected temperature. I'm sorry I seem to have missed that in the video. I do apologize for the oversite.

Thanks so much, Mary! Unfortunately on the GX, we don't seem to have that option for "Auto" Folding Side Mirrors right now. They are adding the "Power-folding outside mirrors (starting with October 2020 production)" on the Premium Package, but they still don't Auto fold. I believe that feature may be on the GX in some other countries. Hopefully it will be added to the GX on the next redesign. All the best!

Hi! Thanks for tuning in. Here's what I can see on the Lexus USA site for the 2021 GX Premium Plus Package: Include Premium Items: Intuitive Parking Assist Power-folding outside mirrors (starting with October 2020 production) LED foglamps Rain-sensing windshield wipers Windshield wiper de-icer Heated and ventilated front seats Heated second-row outboard seats Three-zone automatic climate control with interior air filter and adds Mark Levinson. Here's a great resource: www.marklevinson.com/in-lexus.html#gx that will give you all the info for the system. When I can get a GX with the Power 3rd Row and Mark Levinson, I'll see if I can shoot a quick video.

Hi- could you please explain how to connect the iPhone apps via Bluetooth in the GX 460 that does not have apple car play?

    • Northside Lexus

      Northside Lexus

Hi Steve. Thanks for watching. App with sound can be played through the Bluetooth Audio source selection on your sound system. On the GX, press the audio button, press source, select Bluetooth Audio. Then on your phone, open the app you want sound from, start playing content, use the volume control on the phone to turn it up to max volume. Then you can control the volume even better from the vehicle’s volume controls. If you are wanting audio from navigation apps, you will also need to look at the audio settings for the app. Each one is different and can vary by phone and phone OS. Some have options to play as a Bluetooth phone call so you can still listen to the radio while getting NAV app periodically like getting a call. Hope this helps 👍

Hi Amy! Thanks for watching. The rear windshield wiper doesn't have a mist feature for wiping the glass, unless you spray the glass to clean it. Then it will swipe as well. To spray the glass push the stalk away, toward the front of the vehicle. (Pull toward you to spray the front windshield.) For rear wiper operation: twist the end of the stalk to select Intermittent, On for a steady swipe or Off. Hope this helps :)

    • Northside Lexus

      Northside Lexus

@GH0ST you are correct. If you start the car from inside the vehicle, then remove the key, you can still drive, but when you turn off the car you will not be able to start it again. That is part of the reasoning behind the Remote Starter shutting the car down when you open the door. It makes sure you are restarting with the key inside the vehicle. It's important if you carpool that the last driver (who will be starting the car for the next drive) has the key with them. I had a Guest who had his key in his pocket, his wife dropped him off at the airport, she did not have her key, she ignored the "key not in vehicle message," drove away, went to work and then couldn't start the car at the end of the day :( Not a fun way to end the day. Great questions!

Like if the engine is running but the key is not in the car I can not drive it .... Again thank you so much.

Hi @GHOST I finally got my hands on an ES w/ HUD and have gone through all of the settings. Unfortunately each item that can show in the display is in a fixed position and even when other items are turned off the layout of the information does not change. That means your MPH will always be on the right side of the HUD projection. Sorry I don't have better news for how you would like it to show. Can you please check and see why when you the Apple Car Play, everything works (GPS, music, text and others) except Bluetooth. I took it to the dealership and said that was my phone, then they checked again and said it was the volume, but I never moved anything with that. They took it to the technician and gave me another NX300 2020 (same year and model as mine) and the Bluetooth works perfectly.

    • Northside Lexus

      Northside Lexus

Hi @rosaab84 Thanks for watching. Sorry you're experiencing that. I hope I am understanding your issue. Here's what I can tell you: - Re: volume with Bluetooth. Each device pairing is different which could explain why it was not an issue in the other vehicle. Also, each app that produces sound seems to have a separate volume control. We're seeing this more and more with iOS14 versions. The trick is to get your app playing (through Bluetooth Audio) then turn the volume up on the iPhone all the way. Then adjust the volume on the car. The phone is sending volume information as well as the audio content to the vehilce. - When you plug in for Apple CarPlay, it completely overrides the BT connection until you unplug and the system reconnects for BT. So all voice commands, etc. should be push and hold to use Siri for the features you mentioned. If you push and release for native commands you can operate the radio and climate control, but not the phone. Hopefully this will solve your mystery. If not, please let me know exactly what you're experiencing and I'll see if I can troubleshoot it for you :)

Is this the 2007 Lexus GX? To be honest, it really looks outdated. Lexus is my favorite and best car brand out there, but they need to think out of the box and create a new design for the GX. And even the interior looks so old. Otherwise, great job on the tutorial!

    • Northside Lexus

      Northside Lexus

Hey Dakota. Thanks for watching. Glad you liked the tutorial. I know the GX is up for a redesign, but it is definitely on the longest track for major changes. Lexus usually follows 3, 5, 7 and 10 year tracks for changes and redesigns. I'm not sure why the GX has been so slow to have big updates. Hope fully they have some cool updates for it coming down the line!
