I would like to see what the Type S has to offer and how much it will cost. I owned the 2017 FWD MDX and I was not a fan of limited horsepower. If the Type S comes with A spec and tech packages like the TLX does, i think i may be a buyer or leasee

Possibly a unpopular opinion..... Other then the interior, this seems to be a step backwards in every way from the 2021. The previous model had more presence, this just looks like streamline a Mazda cr6 with plastic wheel fenders.

I am going to post this everywhere I can, because I am going crazy. This is meant only for you - Honda/Acura. There's some tough love down below, so please listen. Who is in charge of the design decisions at Honda/Acura? That person should be immediately terminated. BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Lexus etc now ALL offer touchscreens in addition to whatever other stupid option they think is "smart". Those companies - after DECADES of stubborness and stupidity - finally realized, that a touchscreen should be the default option for interacting with an infotainment system. Once that is in place, then u can feel free to waste the company's research budget on some other excessively idiotic, proprietary and redundant method like "true touch". Uggggggggggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhh. I almost puked when I went from using my galaxy s21, to interacting with the disgusting "true touch" - in a parking lot. 99.999999999% of drivers setup their infotainment system first while PARKED!!!!!!!, then they get onto the road. If i need to make changes while driving, I just use the voice control. Not STUPID, ANNOYING, DISGUSTING, FRUSTRATING "true touch". Summary: Exterior design: A+++++++++++ Interior design: A+++++++++++ No touchscreen: F----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have to go take a walk to calm down.

Update! After driving every luxury SUV. I bought the 2022 MDX. Super smooth, super silent, super comfortable and the boxes are X for sure. Very smooth 10 speed. Pick it up Monday at 11:00 A.M. Bought the super bright red metalic. Like the full moon roof too. This thing is huge, but drives like a much smaller SUV. Acura is on a role with this MDX!

Had to buy up at a Minneapolis, MN dealership as the one on Iowa (where we live) was making a warranty and winter package mandatory for $1,899...no exceptions. I didn’t mind the winter package but the exterior and interior warranty was $1,399 that we didn’t want or need. We are driving an hour and a half further out of state so we don’t get bent over. I’d never been force fed a warranty like that. Oh well, they lost a good customer!

This is a beautiful vehicle if it was a Honda, but a let down for Acura, for a brand that is supposed to be luxury it sure feels plastic. I was waiting for the release and made an appointment for yesterday to view and drive, i have t say i didn't do the drive because it was certainly not a luxury option. Plastic grill speakers, plastic wood trim, no touch screen - you have t use a touch pad like a video game, no 3rd-row vents, no window shades, -62K and no power-folding rear seats? Is this even luxury? Beautiful vehicle for Honda, let down for Acura, I will be staying with Lincoln

I guess Acura really isn't trying to compete in the luxury segment these days anymore. I really disliked the previous generation interiors especially the center stack. I'm not a big of the all that black plastic trim on the front bumper, seat backs, steering column, and even around the tail lights. Acura's are definitely reliable but with all the major car brands upping their game Acura is really going to have rebrand their image. Right now it's somewhere between Honda daily utility and Subaru type excursions. $60K is a lot of change for this SUV.

I am in the market for two vehicles, perhaps the Subaru Outback for the wife, and/or the RAV4 plug-in hybrid. Seems EV's just do not have the infrastructure for most long trips in America, as many friends have been stranded and are having driver anxiety. The Genesis GV80 is a very nice vehicle and I drove one two weeks ago in our rolling hills test proved it to be an excellent competitor, but Genesis may not know, but I also took a German friend on the drive and first off he noticed a $11,000 mark up on the mid-range GV80 from sticker price and who even pays sticker price? NO Body! Genesis corporate needs to watch their dealers, as this brand is still somewhat new and needs to stop that dealer theft. So, next week our Acura dealership will have the new MDX for sale. The main thing is why, with most going either EV, hybrid and/or plug-in hybrid do you not question manufactures who are banking on straight internal combustion engines vehicles, especially in the case of MDX that had a hybrid just last year? I like Kirk's reviews and Alex On Autos too, so I must now go see if Alex says anything about this disparity or back sliding, especially since the new democratic bent will soon double our gas prices!

I have wasted a bucket load on so called German reliability. I had a 3 year old CLS 320CDI with 32,000 on the clock. I changed front shocks, and some suspension bushes. I had an intermittent engine warning light. The centre console had an annoying and constant creak, which I eventually managed to reduce to a bearable level with the assistance of folded card and a few strategically placed match sticks. All of which occurred before reaching 50,000 miles. I believe that the car was a £50,000 + purchase from new. I have had similar issues with the other highly rated and highly recommended marques that are so adored by the automotive journalists. I bought a Mazda 6 Tourer, fully loaded and good spec. I admit that I needed to change it for work purposes, but I was determined not to buy an estate from the aforementioned marques. I was really impressed by every aspect, and now I am currently looking towards a Genesis saloon. There doesn’t seem to be many available, but I am sure I will find a low mileage that is still under warranty. I have friends who have bought Lexus and have never looked back. A 1-2 second difference in 0-60 times is irrelevant in regards to the daily commute. I am interested in comfort and overall reliability...........

The Genesis Gv80 is a World Class Luxury SUV. Which competes with cars even above the Acura MDX. The GV80 even goes head to head with the Bentley Bentayga which were both designed by the same designer Sangyup Lee. I do not hate the 2022 Acura MDX. I believe the acura MDX is a good looking car. The Genesis Gv80 is better than the 2022 Acura Mdx. The MDX looks too much like a Mazda which is not a bad thing. If you want to stay in denial about this then that is your opinion. And it is perfectly fine. I Respect your opinion. Again, I do not hate the 2022 Acura Mdx. I believe that it is a great luxury car. But when compared to the Genesis Gv80, the 2022 Acura MDX comes short. The Genesis Gv80 is a more luxuriously built Machine. I thank you for reading my comment.

I find it very strange that Acura will not provide a Head Up Display on anything less than their "Advance" package. I understand that, for the reason of manufacturing efficiency, Acura does not want to offer their potential customers the ability to order the Head Up display as an individual option. The Head Up Display should be included in both the Technology package and the A-Spec package, even if they would have to increase the price of these packages.

This J-series engine has been in production for 25 years now. Though it has been updated maybe it is time for something new.

What is an Infiniti Q7...think you merged Audi and Infiniti in your thoughts there. Lol. But as always great and fair review ...always appreciate and have great new year!

Underwhelmed. I was expecting a lot stronger competitor to the XC90 and Q7. Feels like an upper trim Pilot that requires 91 octane. Weird physical proportions and the dash is a bit of a mess. I think Acura missed a generation and the Pallisade has it beat.

No power fold or recline the third row is annoying, so is no air vents and USBs only on one trim.

Alex mentioned that power fold is slower and would take up cargo room. 3rd row air vents are at floor level, 4 USB-A and 1- USB-C in most trims...Advanced Trim gets two additional USB-A in third row.

Upper vents in the ceiling or on side would be nice, but there are vents at floor level.

Wish reviewers would measure the rear opening width. I do a lot of DIY and nobody ever gives this metric.

Question: Why does the 2022 MDX needs premium gas and the Lexus RX 350 only needs regular gas?

The MDX doesn’t need premium, it is recommended not required.

@Star Light Rough transmission, vibration and exhaust drone noise issues.. A lot of RX 4th Gen have these issues. Lexus dealers denied these issue as operating normal as it was designed. Driving the 60K luxury car was not as smooth as 25k camry. My biggest regret purchase.
