Acura Type S Cars (and a Taste of Type R)

Acura is getting ready to release its new TLX Type S into the wild. Before we get there though, the automaker invited us to check out a bit of its Type S history here in the States. We met Acura at the base of Angeles Crest Highway in Los Angeles, and then made a few loops in some sweet machines;
-The 3rd-gen Acura TL Type S
-The Acura RSX Type S
-The Acura 3.2CL Type S
-and a bonus run in the Acura Integra Type R.

    Common traits are fantastic steering feel, high reving NA engines, and lightweight. The new TLX Type S is over 4,000 pounds , eps, and turbocharged. Nailed it Acura....

    I went from a 05 Acura Rsx type s to a 2014 Honda Civic si coupe , the rsx-s was very fun and raw but I can’t believe it had no LSD! , also for long drives it was uncomfortable , those leather seats are hard , and there’s no arm rest in the center, gets tiring driving this car especially having to rev it high just to get a decent speed , my si is way more comfortable and picks up pretty quick cus of the torque , I love the k20 but the k24 is way better in my opinion, if you want better flow like the k20 head don’t forget theres always a head porting route to take

    I still own my 2008 TLS which I bought brand new. It’s has 49000 km on it and has never been winter driven. My 2021 NSX just joined my Type S.😬

    Buddy of mine had one new we picked up at dealer in Milwaukee and drove back to Detroit area. The dealer mentioned the brake in period... As soon as my buddy was asleep it was go time.. waking up at 130mph as the car hit some rough road lol

    I personally like the look of the RSX-S but in my opinion it really needs to be mid engined and half the weight Bwhahaha

      The point is for me to experience them for the first time (minus the Type R) and relay those thoughts.

    Didn’t they make one with a manual in that generation? It’s a shame they didn’t have that available to drive. Edit: the TL-S

      Yes, that generation TL was available with a manual in base model and Type-S form. The generation after was also available with a manual, but they are extremely rare

      @The Hooniverse totally, that and so easy to misspeak while on camera and not even realize when you’re driving down a canyon road spiritedly. You still did a great job presenting all of that. Looking forward to the TLX Type S review!

      I like Hondas, it was just a lot of cars to cover in one go... hence why I tried to wing it a bit, lol. Maybe the wrong approach.

      It’s priced right in line with the competitors. Maybe a mainstream brand is more your taste
