Most Popular Song Each Month in the 80s

In this video, you'll see the most popular songs throughout each month in the 80s. The tunes selected for this video are the ones that reached #1 or at least ranked higher in more countries than other hits in the same month, but it's not very accurate since many of them were number one for different periods, and I didn't want to repeat any song.

When I'm making these videos, I understand why nobody has made them before. Choosing one song for each month from a time I wasn't even born is a real challenge, and many times the result is not very accurate. Facing copyright claims is another big downer, but I like doing this to discover good songs and share them with all of you 🤓

This is because since they are more recent songs, there may be problems with Copyright, that is why the fragments of songs cannot last more than 6 seconds. On the other hand, with the 50's and 60's, being songs from more than 50 years ago, there is not so much problem except with the songs of The Beatles which are strongly protected by copyright.

The songs were not selected by decision of the creator of the video although there are undoubtedly errors and omissions. The creator of the video went through the major charts to select the most successful song of each month, which is a very laborious job but prone to mistakes. Remember that there are only 12 songs per year and the most successful song of a month is often hidden from other successful songs, that's why they seem like many absences. I did the same study but based on the information from Mediatraffic's UNITED WORLD CHART and my results were a bit different. Like the creator of the video, I avoided repeating any song and if one turned out to be the # 1 song of the month again, then I would select # 2 or # 3 in order not to repeat any. Yes, Twice in 1980, which makes Queen the most successful group of 1980, hands down. No other Queen song was the hit of the month again for the entire decade although "Under Pressure" came very close to achieving it in January 1982 and "Radio Ga Ga" was also close to achieving it in March 1984. In the 1980s. The 70's only did it with "Bohemian Rhapsody" but came close to doing it with "Somebody To Love" in January 1977 and "We Wiil Rock You" and "We Are The Champions" in January 1978.

It's cool to see the transitions between one era of music to another. Right up until June 1981 it still feels like the 70s/disco era and then Better Davis Eyes and you're like, this is 80s, then it's back to disco with Stars on 45, and back to 80s with Tainted Love and once we're into 1982 everyone has caught on to the new wave and it's 80s time.

I believe that Disco Music has always existed, even up to the present time. In the 80's throughout the decade there was disco music, in the 90's the Eurodisco had a very strong presence. In the 2000's and 2010's there was also disco music. The music of the 80's was characterized mainly by being synthetic music.

Saludos.
