Strange that Acura (and Honda) has failed to release or even announce an EV while others are seriously making investments and retooling production lines to support battery and EV car production. Acura once led in innovation, now they have nothing on the horizon while the market is well underway to a transition to EV.

I have 2019 MDX Advance. Love the new look and Improvements to the interior. Two things of criticism: The Touch Pad Infotainment (What is Acura Thinking !!! It was the reason I didn't take the RDX in June 2019) & Acura should have "tweaked" the HP / Torque a little. It is "winking" at me. My Current lease terminates in June 2022.... However, sometimes there are good Trade Up Programs that Car makers will offer in advance of that . With only 18K miles on my clock, I may have "equity" over the early termination costs on my car. BUT I will need to not just do a 20 minute test drive, due to that Touch Screen. I full day or more usage (a week even better), would allow me to see if I could be comfortable with that Freakin Touch Pad. It seems that since Acura has this touch pad in the re-dseigned RDX and now the TLX and MDX , it is here to stay .... They probably invested a lot of $$$$ into that technology and won't turn away from it too soon. If it was Touch Screen (even with a secondary pad for those that like that stuff), This would be a complete NO-BRAINER Upgrade for me. I don't really need a 3rd row,at 69 YO ,and scattered Grandkids that ride with me and my wife....

It's not bad if your in to suvs an crossovers I'm a car guy an it's a shame that most of the automobile companies are doing away with now a days suvs I can live with but not the crossovers car companies are going to lose out on those who prefer cars because if they quit making them I just go used until all are gone I'll just keep my car a lot longer. Lol Chrysler's has no mid sized car to offer nor they have any compact fuel efficient cars neither how long can they ride the muscle height an everything in there lineups out dated to how long before fiat dumps them to like the Germans did an GM's going all to suvs an crossovers they really have nothing in there fleet I like all crossovers they're not like a sedan an ford to there lineups not exciting to that ford mustang crossover or whatever it is is a very sad going out for the mustang that everyone can reflect as a pony car it's a joke that Ford would do that to an American icon why like the new small truck that there coming out with is not a truck it's what both Ford an GM'S had back in the day the ranchero an el comino besides it should be called the ranchero not maverick the beds connected the the body so it's a ranchero well that's my opinion. Great show I've been watching every since you aired on tv keep up the good work an go for another 40 plus years. 👍🙂

Acura had already tried the badge-engineered SUV approach prior to the MDX, with the Isuzu Trooper-derived Acura SLX. Didn’t work out that well, both in terms of sales and PR, given Consumer Reports’ publicity that showed the vehicle with a tendency to topple in emergency lane change maneuvers.

Alexei Voloshin, what do you mean proven to have problems? They got the kinks out of the engine a long time ago. My moms 2006 V6 accord has 200,000 miles on it. Honda has an issue with the 9-speed ZF transmission (not theirs). They designed their own 10-speed and reduced issues. I can tell you right now I purchased their ridgeline with the 6-speed and the MDX with the 10-speed feels completely different. Very smooth shifting and the engine sounds way different just due to the transmission.

Such a great package and deal. I wish they'd do a Type S RDX. I don't need a three row SUV, and love my '11 RDX. Very useful.

@eriknephron gfr And the idiocy continues... I’m not a Honda fan. Of the 14 cars I’ve owned, 1 was a Honda, and it was a bit “meh,” if I’m honest. Your asinine and completely inaccurate assumptions about my motivations don’t change the fact that you have no clue what badge engineering is, and what platform sharing is, and where this vehicle falls on that spectrum. Yet you cared enough to be confidently ignorant when you tried to correct the MW commentary, and then personally attack anyone with the temerity to give you a taste of your own medicine, albeit with the benefit of accuracy. Fun times.

@Jude Thaddaeus You commented on the thread. It’s because it touched a nerve. It touched a nerve because you allow brand fandom to define your personality. Honda counts on this and profits from it. Congratulations, sucker.

@eriknephron gfr LOL, you’re really fun to have a conversation with. Can’t take a reply without personally lashing out AND proudly shows they don’t know WTF they’re talking about twice in as many comments. Brilliant.

Not sure it's time to punt my 2017 Advance but glad to see they kept the NA V-6 instead of taking the turbo route.

Agreed! It's a gem of a motor and it seems like Honda fine tuned it a bit more for the new generation MDX. I wish the TLX would have received the J35/10AT treatment...at least as a mid-level option. (i.e.: Lexus IS300)

The Type-S is getting a turbocharged J30-series motor. Other than that, all other models get Honda's ol' reliable-- the J35
